Wintertime in New York town (>>>)
The foreign sun, it squints upon
A bed that is never mine (>>>)
Well, I got up and walked around
I was feelin’ kinda lonesome and blue (>>>)
With hungry hearts through the heat and cold (>>>)
It was a normal day (>>>)

My empty pocket tells me that I ain't a-got no friend (>>>)
Just-a one kind favor I ask you (>>>)
The man in the coon-skin cap by the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills, and I only got ten (>>>)
Oh ev'ry girl that ever I've touched I did not do it harmfully (>>>)

All I really want to do is, baby, be friends with you (>>>)

So one morning when the sun was warm
I rambled out of New York town (>>>)
I'm out here a thousand miles from my home (>>>)
I'm on the dark side of the road (>>>)
I swung on to my old guitar
Got on the stage to sing and play
Man there said, come back some other day (>>>)
Oh, the winds in Chicago have torn me to shreds (>>>)
There’s nothing in here moving (>>>)
My baby, she's in some far land... (>>>)
Goin' back where we come from (>>>)
